Stefano Novo, born in 1862, died in 1927, was an Italian artist who attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, studying under the guidance of Pompeo Marino. He initially dedicated himself to frescoes, working in various churches in the Venetian and Padua areas, producing works characterized by fresh and brilliant painting. As regards easel painting, Stefano Novo will perfect himself in genre subjects, mainly set in the streets and calluses of Venice. His paintings feature a stringy brushstroke and great technical expertise, accompanied by a varied and luminous palette.
