    Benno Schotz, born in 1891 in Arensburg, Russia (now Kuressaare, Estonia), was a Scottish sculptor known for his diverse body of work, including portraits, figure compositions, and religious sculptures. He immigrated to Glasgow in 1912, where he pursued a career in engineering before transitioning to full-time sculpture in 1923. Schotz held various prestigious positions in the art world, such as Head of Sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art and Her Majesty's Sculptor in Ordinary for Scotland. He was a prominent figure in the Glasgow art scene, organizing exhibitions and supporting fellow artists.
