    A painter, draftsman, and printmaker, Stuart Clifford Shaw was born on a farm near Collingwood, Ontario (a town on Georgian Bay about 90 miles north of Toronto). He lived in Toronto and its environs from 1910 until he died in what is now Mississauga, Ontario. (1)

    His mediums were mainly oil on Masonite and pen & ink. Our sources also mention watercolors and etching; however, we have not seen any illustrations in those mediums. His subjects included rural landscapes, wilderness scenes, rivers, lakes, architecture, city views, portraits, and figures in landscapes. His styles could be described as Impressionism* and Realism*.
