About Suzanne McClelland

  • Biography

    A New York based artist born in Florida, she is best known for abstract work based in language, speech and sound. She earned a BFA from the University of Michigan where she was a student of painter Gerome Kamrowski and photographer Joanne Leonard, and received an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City where influential teachers were Judy Pfaff, Ursula von Rydingsvaard and Jackie Winsor.

    McClelland has received a Purchase Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Nancy Graves Grant for Visual Art and a Pollock-Krasner Grant.
