    A painter of 20th-century notables, Tade Styka was born in Poland and studied art with his father, Jan Styka (1858-1925). Among his portrait subjects are Maurice Maeterlinck, Caruso, Chaliapin, Tito Ruffo, Sarah Delano Roosevelt, Professor Zielinski, Queen Marie-Jose, Ignacy Paderewski, and Pola Negri just to mention a few.

    In recognition of his painting, Tade Styka won the Medal of the Legion of Honor, the highest award of the French Government.

    The artist died in New York City on September 11, 1954, and is buried beside his father, Jan Styka, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Glendale, Los Angeles in the Immortals' Quarter.
