    Tadeusz Makowski (1882-1932)

    After graduation, Makowski left for Paris where he settled. During World War I he stayed in Britain and at the same time developed a friendship with Wladyslaw Slewinski. In 1916 he returned to Paris which he often left in order to travel to Holland and Belgium.

    The artist is best known for painting children and later of elderly people as well as flowers and landscapes. He exhibited a lot in France, however was not well known in Poland. Nowadays he is thought to be one of the most extraordinary artists of the inter-war period. His art can be found in many museums, galleries and at individual exhibitions.
