    Takao Tanabe is a distinguished Canadian painter, printmaker, graphic artist and educator. He has worked in several styles throughout his long career; though, he is most famous for his large scale canvases depicting the Alberta prairie and the British Columbia coastline. Examples of his work are in the permanent collections of most major Canadian Museums; and, they are frequently included in exhibitions examining 20th century Canadian painting.

    He was born in Seal Cove (near Prince Rupert) on the west coast of British Columbia and, since 1980, has lived in Errington, (20 miles north of Nanaimo), on the east coast of Vancouver Island, B.C. He has also lived (in chronological order) in Vancouver, B.C. (1937 - 1...
