    Themistoklis Fotiadis was born in 1926 in Lefkosia, Cyprus. He was a self-taught painter, and studied and taught agronomy at the University of California.

    He began to paint around 1964. His frequent tours as an agronomist in the Cypriot countryside and the direct contact with the Cypriot shepherds and farmers, with the life and customs influenced his subject matter. The art outside the purely artistic value has folkloric value, systematically and love preserves information about the costume of the peasant with the different variant.
