    Thomas Albert Stone OSA (1894 -1978)*

    Thomas Albert Stone (AKA: Tom Stone) was a painter and printmaker, who was born in Fownhope, Herefordshire, England. He emigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1914 and subsequently lived in Vancouver, B.C.; Alton, Ontario (1921); and Cataract, Ontario (about 50 miles north of Toronto), where he died.

    His mediums were oil and lithography. His subjects were genre, landscape and figures in landscape (many snow scenes). These include views of Ontario, Quebec, Italy, France and Switzerland. His style is representational, easily identified by his fauvist use of vivid colours.
