    Thomas Hudson was a fashionable portrait painter in London during the mid-18th Century. He was a pupil of Jonathan Richardson and gained recognition as a portrait painter, acquiring the patronage of London society during the 1740s and 1750s. Hudson's sitters included the Duke of Cumberland and George Frederic Handel. He taught Sir Joshua Reynolds and married Richardson's daughter. Many of Hudson's works can be seen in art galleries throughout the United Kingdom, including the National Portrait Gallery, the National Maritime Museum, Tate, Barnstaple Guildhall, Foundling Museum, and the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery....
