    Thomas Sivuraq (b.1941)

    A prominent Canadian Inuit* sculptor, carver, printmaker and draftsman, Thomas Sivuraq (disc number* E2-236) was born on the south side of Baker Lake, Nunavut and currently lives in the settlement of Baker Lake. Dozens of his works are in important Canadian museum collections including the Canadian Museum of History, the Winnipeg Art Gallery*, and the National Gallery of Canada. (1)

    His mediums are stone, ivory, and bone carving; graphite and felt pen; and stonecut prints*. His subjects are human figures, family groups, mother and child, animals, birds, Inuit genre* (hunting, playing, and working),fantasy, mythology and spirituality. His style would be described as Inuit Art*. He usually signs his works...
