    In 1939, thanks to the mediation of the artist Baccio Maria Bacci, the Academy of Arts of Design in Florence, Italy, in the person of the president Felice Carena, received the legacy of Tito and Maria Conti for the free use of a painting studio for a young artist under 30 who had been deemed worthy by a jury.

    Tito's wife survived but her husband died in 1924, so she decided to perpetuate his memory by founding an artist in residence with the testamentary act of 5 April 1937 drawn up by the notary Giulio Cirri.

    Tito Conti, in fact, born in 1842 in Florence, rookie in 1861, was among the most significant painters of the late nineteenth century Italian, and since 1879 he was elected Academician of the Academy of Arts of Design....
