    Tony Binder (1868 Vienna - 1944 Nördlingen).

    Studied: Academies in Vienna and Munich.

    Binder came in contact with the orientalist painter Camille Boiry before 1890, and in 1890 he embarked on an extended trip to Upper Egypt. In 1891 he settled in the then famous seaside resort of Cairo, Helwan. A stay in Istanbul followed in 1894, and in 1895/96 he went to Alexandria and Cairo. There were several trips to and from Egypt to Italy (including Naples, Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan) until 1901. During this time he also stayed in Munich and Vienna. There he married Mary Reiser, with whom he went to live in Alexandria, 1905/06 followed by stays in Greece, a 1911 trip to France (Marseilles, Lyon, Paris)...
