    Vasilios Ithakisios: He was born in Akrotiri, Lesbos, in 1878. He died in Athens in 1977. He is a painter with a preference for the ethnographic themes and the landscape, where he excels. He began his studies at the School of Fine Arts in Athens and continued in Antwerp. After his return he settled in Smyrna, where he remained until the Asia Minor catastrophe. From 1928 and for twenty years he lived in a cave at Olympus. His painting is distinguished by the ability to attribute the character of the physical space safely and convincingly.
