A year later she began at the Slade School of Fine Art & Central School of Textile Design. Spencer played an active role in the Post-War abstract art movement in both Britain and the Continent. The bold saturated color combined with the seemingly weightless organic forms of her work produce an almost hypnotic effect that is characteristic of Spencer's work from the period when she was friends with artists such as Paule Vezelay.
