    Vera Marie Tischler (1900-1989)

    Vera Tischler was born 22 January 1900 to Victor and Helen (Wurlitzer) Tischler in Fairfield, Butler County, Ohio. Before 1910 her parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she attended Woodward High School.

    In 1917 the Cincinnati city directory recorded her as an artist. She attended the Cincinnati Art Academy and began decorating Vellum glaze pottery at Rookwood Pottery in 1920 and remained there until 1929 often using stylized flowers for her work. She signed her work with her initials VT either applied under glaze or incised. In 1923 she exhibited selected examples of her pottery decoration at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Women’s Art Club.
