    Vladimir Donatovich Orlovskii was born in 1842 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and passed away in 1914 in Genoa, Italy. He was a Russian realist painter of Ukrainian origin and an academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg.

    Vladimir Donatovich Orlovskii began his artistic training under Taras Shevchenko, who recognized his talent early on. He later studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts under A.P. Bogolyubov, one of the leading Russian landscape painters of the 19th century. Orlovskii graduated with the title of class artist of the 1st degree, and quickly gained recognition for his landscape sketches painted in Crimea, the Kyiv province, and Finland.
