    Waldemar Otto studied from 1948 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, where he obtained in 1957 the Prize of the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. In 1973 he became a professor at the University of the Arts in Bremen where he founded the "Bremer sculpture school". Since 1976 he lives and works in Worpswede.

    Among the numerous works in public spaces of the "Fountain of Neptune" is probably one of the most well-known before the Bremen Cathedral. Otto is one of the most important representatives of the molded, figurative sculpture and is one of the most famous sculptors of Germany.
