    "Ward P. Mann, 84, a well-known artist, died on Thursday, October 13, 2005, in Webster, New York after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Detroit on October 3, 1921, his interest in art blossomed as a young man through classes at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Scarab Art Club. He later attended Cass Tech High School, where his focus shifted to aviation and engineering.

    During World War II, he volunteered and served in the South Pacific as a navigator in the US Army Air Corps. After the war, he graduated from the University of Michigan...
