Werner Berges - Artist Info

About Werner Berges

  • Biography

Werner Berges was born in 1941 in Cloppenburg and studied advertising art with a focus on fashion design from 1960 until 1963 at the Art School Bremen. From 1963 to 1968, he studied free painting under Alexander Camaro at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin.

Werner Berges is considered one of the main exponents of the German Pop Art, which, however, is disapproved by the artist himself. Since 1967, Berges has been focusing on his favorite subject: the woman. The use of primary colors, clear contours, dots and stripes is typical for his works of art. (cko)
