Biography
Werner von Pigage (1888 Breslau - 1959 Mannheim) was a German painter who studied at the academy in Breslau under Arnold Busch from 1906 to 1910. He graduated as a decorative painter and draughtsman. His first major commission was decorating the auditorium of the Breslau Technical University. He later worked in Berlin as a draughtsman and commercial artist. After being wounded in World War I, he moved to Mannheim, painting scenes of the Schwetzingen palace gardens and Mannheim buildings, while continuing commercial art work, including for the Maggi company. In the 1920s, he traveled extensively in Italy. In 1934, he returned to Berlin, where he met Adolf Hitler personally through his parents-in-law and received state and privat...
