    The extraordinary artistic talent of Wilhelm Kaufmann became evident when he was a child. In 1911, at only 16 years old, Kaufmann was accepted as the youngest candidate at the Imperial Royal Academy of Fine Arts. During the First World War Kaufmann served as a soldier and then worked as a painter in Vienna.

    He participated in exhibitions of the Wiener Sezession, was a member of the Sonderbund Österreichischer Künstler and of the Hagenbund. Pursued by the National Socialist regime, Kaufman became extremely successful after the Second World War.
