    Wilhelm Zügel was a prominent German sculptor best known for his naturalistic animal figures. He was the son of Heinrich von Zügel, a renowned Impressionist painter and influential figure in Munich’s art scene. Zügel studied painting under his father at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1898 to 1903, but soon shifted his focus to sculpture, becoming largely self-taught in the medium.

    Zügel’s career as a sculptor began in 1903 and quickly gained recognition. His works were exhibited in major galleries across Europe, including the Nationalgalerie Berlin, Kunsthalle Bremen, Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.
