    Willem ('Frans') Helfferich was born in The Hague on September 2, 1871. Helfferich was a Dutch painter.


    Helfferich worked in the style of the Hague School, with strong influences from Impressionism. Helfferich studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He lived and worked in The Hague for most of his life, although he spent some time in Delft between 1896 and 1900.


    Helfferich often worked 'en plein air' in the hills of southern Limburg. Helfferich initially worked mainly in the style of The Hague School and mainly painted landscapes. Furthermore, he was strongly influenced by Jacob Maris, whose work he also copied.
