    William Alfred Delamotte, a student of Benjamin West, was a prolific draughtsman known for producing extensive sketches and watercolors throughout Europe. He enjoyed the patronage of King George III and spent much of his life in Oxford. Delamotte's drawings were transformed into woodcuts by Orlando Jewitt, with the present work showcasing an idyllic, rustic scene hinting at rural labor.
