    Born in New York in 1927, William Boissevain studied at the Central School of Art, London and the Academie des Beaux Arts in Paris before settling in Western Australia in 1949. A figurative painter, portraitist and teacher, he has held exhibitions in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Geelong and is the recipient of a number of major awards including the Rubinstein Prize for Portraiture in 1956 and the Order of the British Empire in 1978. William Boissevain is represented in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, University collections at Murdoch, Curtain and the University of Western Australia. the P...
