    William Hoggatt was a painter known for his landscapes of the Isle of Man. Born in Lancaster, he studied at the school of art in Lancaster's Storey Institute and later at the Académie Julian in Paris. He settled in the Isle of Man, where he lived until his death. Hoggatt was a prolific exhibitor and a member of various exhibiting societies. He also won a competition to design a stained glass window commemorating the work of T E Brown, the island's national poet. His works can be found in various public galleries in the UK and Australia.
