    Woldemar Hottenroth 1802 Dresden - 1894 ibid. 1817-28 Pupil at the Dresden academy. Excursions with his brother Edmund Hottenroth in the Dresden region, Saxon Switzerland, and the Ore Mountains, where he made numerous drawings that influenced his artistic work. He completed several scholarships in Paris (around 1828-30) and from 1830 in Rome. He stayed in Italy until 1843, where he mainly painted landscapes, portraits, and scenes from folk life. There, he met the German-Roman circle of artists, including Robert Kummer and Carl Wilhelm Götzloff. After spending many years in Hamburg and Rome, he moved to Dresden in 1854. He remained artistically active there until the last years of his life.
