    Zeng Xi was born in 1961 and was a native of Hengzhou Prefecture (now Hengyang City), Hengyong Chengui Road.

    From the word Jizi, and the word Siyuan, and one more word Ziji, his name is Zhaiyuan, and also the name Nongbeard in his later years.

    Zeng was an outstanding Chinese calligrapher, painter, educator, and a leader in Shanghai calligraphy and painting.

    In the 29th year of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1903), he was a jinshi. He was the director of the Officers and Soldiers Department, the envoy of the school, and the consultant of the Bute Academy.

    He successively lectured at the Hengyang Shigu Academy and the Hanshou Longchi Academy, and served as the president of Hunan Education.
