    Born in 1968, Yeong Geol Choi's Western style of painting with the usage of Korean traditional ink on paper, Choi delicately recreates a Korean landscape on his canvas. Because it is drawn with ink, unlike Western paintings, it is impossible to retouch or repair.

    His attention to detail and meticulous touch is jaw-dropping as it requires a tremendous amount of effort to execute such delicacy using Korean ink. In The Summer I, Choi depicts running water along the valley and beautiful scenery with his careful technique; in this work, Choi manages to create a Korean summer landscape with his ability to draw with calm yet attractive colors.
