    Song Yinke (1902-1990) was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. Because his family was poor he dropped out of secondary school in Nanjing. At the age of 15 he started drawing book illustrations for the Commercial Press in Shanghai, and taught himself figure and bird-and-flower painting, following the styles of Ren Bonian and Wu Changshuo in the Shanghai School

    In the 1930s he moved to the Guangxi Province, close to Vietnam, to be an arts lecturer at Guilin Chinese Painting, College of Fine Arts. He hosted his first solo exhibition there.

    Since the 1940s he moved to Guiyang and lived there for the rest of his life. He held several solo exhibitions in Guiyang, Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing and other places. <...
