    Zdenek Rykr (Czech) - Painter, stage designer, graphic designer

    Born - October 10, 1900 in Chotebor, Bohimia

    Died - January 15, 1940 in Prague

    Rykr studied art history and classical archaeology at the Charles University, Prague (1920-1925). In 1921 he exhibited in the third exhibition of the Tvrdošíjní (Stubborn Ones), and his work from this period reflects Tvrdošíjiní's influence, from Magic Realism to Neoclassicism to Social Realism. He worked as a graphic artist in advertising and for manufacturers such as Orion and Ba?a. In the 1930s he frequently traveled to Paris and contributed to the magazine Delta. In 1937 he joined the Salon des Surindependants.
