Ezequiel Hernandez, known in the art circles as Zeke, was born in San Antonio in 1940. Starting at the age of 6, as a boy he was in a Chicago hospital when the artist fever struck him. He received a present which included what was to be his first art kit. From this point on, he was hooked on art and stayed with it for the rest of his life.

That introduction lead to the study of art as he attended various art schools including some time at the Chicago Art Institute and the La Villita School of Art. His biggest contribution to the art world came during the Western Art Shows in San Antonio during the Rodeo Events.
