He advocated institutional support for local artists, and having been appointed to choose America's entry to the 1973 San Paulo Biennale, he organized a landmark exhibition "Made in Chicago". He advocated institutional support for local artists, and having been appointed to choose America's entry to the 1973 San Paulo Biennale, he organized a landmark exhibition "Made in Chicago".
