BROWN, Horace . Horace Brown grew up in Springfield, Vermont. In 1902 he was able to buy the home in Springfield his great-great grandfather built in 1790. He later got elected to the Vermont state senate. When his father passed, Brown felt free to take up painting, and in 1916, he became a student, and then a friend, of American Impressionist Willard Metcalf. He began spending winters in Miami sometime before 1943, where he was elected to the prestigious Blue Dome Fellowship of artists.... Read full biography
