A painter, architect, carver, draftsman and educator, Willard Morse Mitchell was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and died in Montréal, Quebec where he had lived since 1927. His paintings were featured in two spring exhibitions at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (1927 and 1928) and, posthumously, he was the subject of a solo exhibition at the Cumberland County Museum and Archives in Amherst, Nova Scotia (2009).
