Born and raised in Philadelphia, Yarnall Abbott was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He practiced law with his father before quitting to become a full-time artist. He studied art in Paris and then returned to the United States where he continued instruction at the Pennsylvania Academy. He was a summer visitor to Rockport and painted many marine and landscape scenes there. He also used his legal skills to draft the constitution and by-laws of the Rockport Art Association....
