He took lessons at the studios of Gorter, Jan Toorop, Van Vucht Tijssen, and Jurres. With these masters he perfected his talent for drawing, etching and painting. He belonged to a group of painters in Nijmegen called "In Consten Een", who were active in the first part of this century. He was also a member of the Pulchri Studio in The Hague....
