They were Peter Nikolayevich Pogrebinsky (1911 - 2002) and his Liubov Romanovna Solona (1914 - 1990) both graduates of the Kiev Institute of Art, now known as the Kiev Academy of Arts. In 1958, Pogrebinsky entered a special French school, where all subjects where taught in the French language, and in 1963, he entered the only high school for the arts in the whole of Ukraine.
