He studied at the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in St. Petersburg from 1898 to 1901, and later at the Imperial Academy of Arts beginning in 1902, where he worked under Ilya Repin and Dmitry Kardovsky. In 1909, Egorov was awarded the title of artist for his painting In the Village. He lived and worked in Petrograd and Tallinn, and became a member of the A.I. Kuindzhi Society in 1911.
