After 1986 he established a studio in downtown Atlanta and developed an interest in urban landscapes. His urban scenes were first displayed in the exhibition "Atlanta: A City Portrait" in the 1980s, and later highlighted during the 1996 Olympics, when Braithwaite's work was displayed in the administrative offices of the games.
