He devoted himself to the landscape in Jutland, the forests near Marselisborg, the lakes around Himmelbjerget, as well as the heath landscapes near Salling and, as in the present painting, the dune landscapes of Fanø. Carl Milton Jensen initially studied with his father, the painter Christian Vilhelm Jensen, and studied from 1874 to 1880 at the Copenhagen Academy. He found the motifs for his landscapes on numerous study trips throughout Denmark. He devoted himself to the landscape in Jutland, the forests near Marselisborg, the lakes around Himmelbjerget, as well as the heath landscapes near Salling and, as in the present painting, the dune landscapes of Fanø. Between 1879 and 1917 he was often represented with his landscapes at the spring exhibitions in Charlottenborg. Between 1906 and 1922 in particular, numerous solo exhibitions in Copenhagen and Aarhus were devoted to his work.... Read full biography
