Erickson was a member of the Swedish-American Art Association as well as the North Shore Art League in Winnetka, Illinois. Carl Olaf Erickson. Born in Malung-Dalarna, Sweden on September 22, 1867, he then emigrated to the United States in 1888 settling in Minnesota and working in the Midwest until his death on April 15, 1944. Erickson was a member of the Swedish-American Art Association as well as the North Shore Art League in Winnetka, Illinois. He exhibited at the Sheridan Beach Hotel, the Illinois Academy of Art, and the Michigan Avenue art show in Chicago. Many of his paintings were purchased and exhibited at hotels and business offices in and around Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. There is a permanent collection of his work at the Stevens Hotel in Chicago and also in several Springfield, IL legislation offices.
