Charles Beauverie began training as an artist at the l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 1855, later moving to Paris to enroll in Gleyre's atelier in 1863. He quickly became a member of the school of Lyon and was awarded a first class medal in the Paris Salon in 1881. In 1888, he moved to Poncin in Loire, and focused his energy on painting striking pastoral scenes of the banks of the Lignon.
