He first studied sculpture under William Silver Frith at the South London Technical School (earlier known as the Lambeth School of Art, now the City and Guilds School), Kennington, then, from 1896, attended the Royal Academy Schools. He also studied privately under Edward Onslow Ford and William Hamo Thornycroft, and started exhibiting at the Royal Academy from 1900, becoming an associate in 1915 and a full academician in 1924 — presenting his...
