In 1879, he completed his education and traveled in 1890 on a frigate to England, Madeira and Russia. Then Mølsted began studying at the Art Academy in Copenhagen, where among others the painter Carl Bloch, Julius Exner and Gustaf Vermehren were his teachers. Mølstedt specialized in marine painting. In particular, his paintings, with historically detailed research and vividly depicted battles, made him famous. Later, he also created genre pictures. His studio in Dragør today serves as a museum and shows many of his works. (fea)
