Cyril Saunders Spackman was born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He studied at King's College architectural department in London, and was a pupil of the architect T E Lidiard James. Spackman was a member of many artistic and architectural bodies, including the RBA, RMS and SGA. In the early 1920's, he settled in the Croydon area of Surrey, where he was a member of the Camera Club.
