Edmund Friedrich Kanoldt was born in 1845. He was a German painter, draftsman, and illustrator. He was the father of Alexander Kanoldt (1881–1939). Kanoldt started his education as a pupil of Friedrich Prellers in Weimar. Around 1870, he went to Rome. Later, the artist also worked as a muralist.
