In 1921, Fraaß was a member of the artist group 'Die Schaffenden' in the circle of Conrad Felixmüller. In 1931, he was a co-founder and president of the 'Neue Dresdner Sezession', which was banned in 1934. In 1933, the artist was classified 'degenerate', and in 1935, he was deprived from his artistic status.
