Gillot became the protégé of Baron Dard at a young age and was heavily influenced by Turner during his travels to London. He was invited to represent the coronation of George V and was part of their suite during their official trip to Paris. After the war, Gillot was drawn to circus and music hall scenes, which led him to adopt more vivid tones. He was appointed "Official Painter of the Navy" in 1921 and founded the National Society of Fine Arts of the Sea and the Salon de la Marine with Fouqueray. His works can be found in the Carnavalet...
